La
Fontana
'La Fontana' is the agritourism denomination of the 'Camera dei
Bovi' farm, located near the Colla mountain pass along the Faentina
road between Borgo San Lorenzo and Marradi in Upper Mugello.
Set in a 200-hectare estate of grazing land and century-old chestnut
woods, La Fontana is an idyllic location for outdoor enthusiasts
and food lovers, offering a hearty local cuisine and cooking classes.
La Fontana is also a well equipped and experienced equestrian
tourism centre with horses, ponies and even donkeys.
Farm accommodation
Your host will be pleased to welcome you in the five guest rooms
and one self catering unit obtained from the recent renovation of
the old farmhouse, which was carried out with the precise purpose
of preserving its original rustic character.
The shared visitors' facilities are carefully arranged to offer
comfortable indoors and outdoors areas for guests to meet and relax.
Equestrian tourism
La Fontana provides facilities for guests to enjoy equestrian
tourism at all levels of expertise.
We run weekly riding classes for beginners 
(children,
young adults and adults) with expert tutors and eight docile horses.

riders will be able to take tours around the estate or guided excursions
on suitable tracks in the vicinity of the farm, availing themselves
of our horses and a licensed equestrian guide. Expert riders on
a long-range trek with their horse will also find at La Fontana
a warm welcome and overnight shelter for themselves and their four-legged
companions.
Smaller children will also have the opportunity to get acquainted
with our meek ponies and donkeys, that love nothing better than
being stroked and made a fuss of.
Services and activities
Guests are welcome to take part in some of the farming activities
and get acquainted with our milk cows, calves, horses and donkeys.
We also provide mountain-bikes and a well kept farmyard for outdoor
recreation. Upon request our certified guides are available to accompany
guests on scenic excursions. We shall also be pleased to arrange
tastings of traditional local recipes based on fresh organic produce
from our vegetable garden and fields, cooked in our old wood burning
oven.
The
farm
Camera de' Bovi is an organic farm specializing in horse
breeding and dairy cattle. The state-of-the-art cowhouse
complies with the strictest guidelines for the production of high
quality milk for cheese making.
During the Winter, our 70 milk cows are sheltered in bright and
properly ventilated buildings with plenty of room for movement.
From May to November, they are let free to graze in our pasture
areas and gathered twice a day for milking.
Additionally, the estate's 25 hectares of majestic century-old chestnut
trees yield excellent harvests of the deservedly celebrated local
chestnuts bearing the European PGI (IGP in Italian, meaning Protected
Geographical Indication) quality seal.
Where we are
La Fontana is close to the mountain pass 'Passo della Colla' (913
mt above sea level) on the State Road no. 302, connecting Florence
to Faenza. The railway station of Crispino sul Lamone is just a
few kilometres away from La Fontana. In fact, we recommend the train
as a convenient, relaxing, scenic and environmentally-friendly way
of reaching Florence to the southwest or Ravenna to the northeast.
La Fontana is also within easy reach of marked trekking paths (GEA,
CAI), offering great excursion opportunities for hikers, mountain-bikers
and horse-riders.

Prics are inclusive of breakfast, linen and towels, utility bills
and VAT.
