Nidi
di Belforte
Nidi di Belforte is a rural hamlet dating back from the Middle Ages,
when a watch tower stood guard to the Belforte Valley and the lands
of the Guidi Counts of Battifolle and Poppi, one of the most powerful
medieval dinasties in Tuscany, whose members often played prominent
roles in the Florentine political feuds between the 12th and 13th
centuries.
Holiday farm
After several hundred years of mixed fortunes, Nidi di Belforte
has regained its original charm thanks to a painstakingly carried
out restoration.
The old farmers' lodgings have been converted into 9 comfortable
units, fully restored and furnished with a distinct, typical Tuscan
flair. Each unit has its own separate entrance and small private
garden, a kitchen area, a small fireplace, independent heating and
satellite TV. Enrico, Nara and their daughter Irene personally welcome
their guests and will be delighted to help you spend a pleasant
holiday at their 'Nidi'.
Services
Shared facilities include private parking, ping pong, table football,
a comfortable reading room and a billiard room in the house basement,
as well as a panoramic outdoor swimming pool (14x7 metres) for refreshing
dives on hot summer days.
By arrangement we provide tastings of our own farm produce and delicious
Tuscan and vegetarian meals.

Where
we are
The Nidi di Belforte farmhouse is located 40 km (about 45 minutes'
drive) from Florence, 80 km (about 1 hour's drive) from Siena and
90 km (about 1 hour's drive) from Bologna.
We are in the municipality of Dicomano, deep in the green of the
hills rising to the northeast of Florence on the border between
the Mugello valley, where the Medici dynasty originated, and the
Florentine Mountains, renowned for its Rufina and Pomino Chianti
wines.
Located in an extraordinarily scenic position at the heart of a
natural reserve where roe deer, wild boar and red deer live and
thrive undisturbed, our tourist accommodation facilities are part
of a 200 hectare farm specializing in the production of extra virgin
olive oil, saffron and excellent chestnuts.
