Villa di Panzano of the Guasconi di Villamena
Marquis
The earliest parts of Villa di Panzano were built in the 14th century,
but the oldest surviving documents are dated 1427.
Although the towers mentioned in these early papers have long gone,
the solid rectangular shape of the main building still reminds one
of a small medieval walled castle.
However, later additions like the elegant 1500's windows and the
finely carved cornice on the façade brought a genteel Renaissance
touch to the building.
16th century interventions can also be found in the large rooms
with lofty beamed ceilings and in the typical door jambs in grey
sandstone.
The recent restoration has also uncovered two columns, the only
remaining evidence of an old loggia which was later closed to make
room for the (still used) family chapel dedicated to St Christine,
Virgin and Martyr.
Holiday
accommodation
Villa di Panzano can accommodate 8 guests in 4 ensuite bedrooms,
two of them with showers.
Each bedroom has an early 19th century stove in enamelled cotto
in perfect working shape.
At the heart of the tourist accommodation area on the ground floor
is a large billiard hall. Still on the sizable
ground level (500 square metres) are a sitting room with its old
fireplace, a leisure room with satellite tv, a dining room, a laundry
room and a state-of-the-art kitchen with oven, freezer and dishwasher.
The lower floor is entirely occupied by a large traditional kitchen
with wood-burning oven, fireplace and dishwasher. The owners live
on the upper floor, one wing of which is also occupied by the caretaker
and his family.
Services
Guests can enjoy the terraced garden surrounding the Villa, with
its lovely fountains and 6x12 metres swimming-pool equipped
with lighting system for unforgettable swims under the stars.
Beyond the garden is a 3,500 square metres park of woodland, meadows
and paths lined with majestic cypresses, ideal for taking long relaxing
walks. Guests can also avail themselves of a barbecue area and table
tennis.

Organic and game farm
The organic farm attached to the Villa grows olives and crops of
cereals, with extensive woods and grazing land for rearing cattle,
sheep and 'cinta senese' pigs. Guests are welcome to taste the farm
produce and take guided tours of the farming activities.
Additionally, our game preserve offers the opportunity for hunting
parties to shoot pheasant, hare, partridge as well as wild boar,
mouflon, fallow and roe deer within two dedicated precincts in the
property.
